Compare and contrast the strategy selection approach and the constructivist

Compare and contrast the strategy selection approach and the constructivist approach to message production.  Things to consider are the premises and assumptions of each, the role of theory, methodological choices, independent and dependent variables, and criticisms.  Why do you think the strategy selection approach became so widespread while the constructivist school remained somewhat marginalized?
